Talking Avatar Overlays
Make UGC-style videos that feel more “creator-on-camera” by overlaying a lip-synced talking avatar on top of your AI-generated video. This is designed for Shorts and TikTok formats, where a short, narrated hook can make your content perform.
How it works
When you enable narration and select a talking avatar, VidMachine generates a talking avatar video by lip-syncing the avatar to your narrator audio, then overlays that avatar into the final video (top-left corner).
Requirements
- Narrator must be enabledTalking avatar overlays only generate when `Use narrator voice` is turned on.
- Avatar selection is optionalIf you do not pick a `Talking Avatar (Optional)`, the project still generates normally (narrator only).
- Overlay positionThe talking avatar overlay is placed in the top-left corner.
- Use narrator voiceMust be enabled for avatar lip-sync to work.
- Talking Avatar (Optional)Pick the avatar you want to overlay.
Where to configure it
Go to Projects in the dashboard, open your project settings, then set:
Credits for talking avatar overlays
Avatar overlay credits are calculated from your narrator audio duration. VidMachine bills at
8 credits per second of output time, rounded up to whole seconds.Quick start
Enable narrator voice
Open your project and turn on `Use narrator voice`. Talking avatar overlays are generated from the narrator audio.
Select an optional talking avatar
In Project Settings, choose a `Talking Avatar (Optional)`. If you leave it blank, the narrator plays without an avatar overlay.
Generate your video
When you generate a video, VidMachine lip-syncs the talking avatar to your narrator audio and overlays it on top of the video.
